Why choose Fibreglass? Traditional pool building in the UK has fallen into two distinct groups;
Fibreglass provides flexible strength: Stronger than concrete but with the flexibility to cope with seasonal soil movement, while maintaining far greater durability than a PVC liner. It is as easy to clean as PVC and resists algae far more successfully than tiles. It has good thermal properties, reducing the cost of heating. With its smooth, non-porous surface it does not require large amounts of algaecide to combat resident algae, therefore requiring less chemical dosing. The chlorine level can be maintained at 1.0 ppm (parts per million) versus 3.0 ppm for concrete pools: a 66% saving. Fibreglass pools require much less acid. A concrete pool bleeds alkali into the water, upsetting the chemical balance and preventing the chlorine from doing its job, thus requiring acid for water chemical balance. No more skinned knees, grazed toes, torn or snagged bathing suits from cracked or sharp-edged tiles. Less chlorine means no hair discolouration or fading and rotting of bathing suits Your fibreglass pool will never need to be drained. A concrete pool will need to be drained for acid washing every few years, and a liner pool will need to be drained for relining every 5-7 years. Each pool has its own moulded in step for safe and easy entry and exit. This would be an expensive addition to a liner pool (nearly £2000). It also means no unsightly ladder for the cover to fit round, or to find a home for in winter.
